September 2nd - 5th / Spotlight: Mrs. Mahoney

Announcements:

Class supply donations: Our classroom could still benefit from the following donations. (Now or anytime throughout the year.) I think we already went through two boxes of tissues last week thanks to allergies and stuffy noses!

  • Tissues

  • Paper towels

  • Disinfecting wipes

  • Flushable wipes

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Extra pencils

Class Volunteers:  Volunteers, please make sure you get a background check through Davis District if you plan on volunteering (even for class parties.)  I will be emailing volunteers soon.

Homework: Students brought home their homework folders on Friday.  In it was their weekly homework paper which included a reading log and math page.  Students must return this folder by this Friday (the Sept. 5th).

To clarify some questions about the reading log, students just need to read a total of 100 minutes.  Therefore, that can do it all in one day.  Not all slots need to be filled out in order to get full credit.  You can split up those minutes however you'd like.

Beginning of Year Testing: Acadience testing and i-Ready diagnostic test will be finalized this week.

STEM Club:  Fliers will be sent home today for students who are interested in doing our STEM club.  This club is for 5th and 6th graders who want hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering and math.  Students will meet every Tuesday afternoon from 3:35-4:20 in the cafeteria. The club begins Sept. 16th.

PTA Fun Run: Join us for our PTA Fun Run fundraiser and carnival on Friday, September 12th.  Highlights will include a silent auction, bounce houses, games, and a dunk tank.

Reading and Language Arts:  Ancient civilizations comprehension and reading, classroom novel (Fuzzy Mud), Acadience testing

Mrs. Mahoney

My family and me at Disneyland!

Hi! I am Mrs. Mahoney. I am 30 years old, have two kids, and have been married for 9 years. I absolutely love teaching but if I had to choose another career, I would either teach art or write children's books. I have been teaching for 9 years; 2 years in kindergarten, 3 years in third grade, 2 years in fourth grade, and 2 years in fifth. In my free time I like to go camping in my school bus, paint, DIY home projects, or watch movies with my kids. I love to eat pizza and drink Dr. Pepper. My life motto: "mistakes are great, they make your brain grow".

Our school bus that we bought and have remodeled the inside to be our home on wheels!

We love taking our bus camping.

I especially love art!
